Shakuni (Acrylic on Paper)
Medium
Original acrylic painting on 9x12 fine art paper. Mounted on a 12 x 16 deep green tortoise shell patterned frame with a linen mat.
About this work
Shakuni, one of the chief conspirators of the Mahabharata is an interesting character with many layers. While he is popular for colluding with Duryodhana to deceive the Pandavas, he also endured the death of his entire clan by starvation at the hands of Bhishma and had to watch his sister blindfold herself permanently in devotion to her husband. While Shakuni’s game of choice is the dice, this piece depicts him puppeteering the pawns on the chessboard that is Kurukshetra, moving them at will, wreaking havoc while whispering malice.
Dimensions
The complete size including the frame measures 12 inches x 16 inches. The actual piece measures 9 inches x 12 inches.
Framing
Mounted on a 12 x 16 deep green tortoise shell patterned frame with a linen mat.. It is ready to hang. See pictures for more details.
