The Primordial Being (Acrylic on Canvas)
Medium
Original acrylic painting on 30x40 canvas. Mounted on gold wooden floater frame with 0.25" padding.
About this work
The Hindu God Vishnu is often seen resting on a many headed serpent. This serpent is referred to as Adisesha among other names. It’s believed that time moves as Adisesha coils forward and if he recoils, the Universe would cease to exist. This painting is inspired by the Snake Way. Among the many worlds and locations that came out of Akira Toriyama’s wild imagination, the design of the Snake Way truly stood out to me when I first saw it. Watching Goku travel along this serpentine pathway towards Earth’s dimension while the Saiyans were toying with his friends was what got me hooked to the franchise decades ago.
The fluorescent colors used in this painting have a distinct glow under black lights. The mood of the painting shifts from calm to fierce under black lights depicting the dichotomy of Vishnu’s role both as a preserver and destroyer.
Dimensions
The complete size including the frame measures 31.5 inches x 41.5 inches. The actual canvas measures 30 inches x 40 inches.
Framing
The Original Painting comes on a gold wooden floater frame with a quarter inch padding on all edges. It is ready to hang. See pictures for more details.
